Óscar Mestre: el viticultor que expresa la Marina Alta en vino

Óscar Mestre: the winemaker who expresses Marina Alta in wine

Óscar Mestre: the voice of the landscape in every bottle

In the heart of the Marina Alta, where the Mediterranean sun paints its days over limestone soils and centenary vineyards, we find one of the most personal and sincere proposals of Valencian wine: Óscar Mestre.

It is not a conventional winery. It is the artisanal work of a winegrower who understands the vineyard as a living landscape and believes that wine should tell the story of the place and the year in every sip.

A viticulture with meaning

Óscar's plots are dry-farmed, many with advanced age, in poor soils that force the vine to dig deep. There are no chemical shortcuts or quick fixes: viticulture here is patience, observation and constant care.

In the winery, the philosophy follows the same principle: minimal intervention. Spontaneous fermentations, without aggressive clarifications and with absolute respect for the character of each variety. The result is wines full of identity, without disguises, without artifice, that keep the pulse of the vineyard in the bottle.

Varieties that reflect the territory

The grapes Óscar Mestre works with are not chosen for fashion, but for history and adaptation:

  • Giró — the emblematic red grape of the valley, light, fresh and Mediterranean.
  • Giró Blanca — its white counterpart, delicate and aromatic.
  • Moscatel  — floral perfume, natural sweetness and Mediterranean presence.
  • Trepadell — traditional variety, structured and linked to local soils and climates.

Each contributes something different to the wine, and when blended or vinified separately, they generate unique profiles not found in industrial productions.

What makes his wines special?

Óscar's wines do not seek homogeneity. On the contrary: they celebrate the differences between plots, vintages and grapes. Some of the qualities that define them are:

  • Terroir expression: aroma and flavor that reflect their origin.
  • Natural freshness: very Mediterranean, with vibrant acidity.
  • Honesty in the bottle: no artifice, the essence of the field.
  • Limited production: each harvest is unique and valuable.

These are wines for those who do not want the same old thing, but something unique, something authentic.

Tasting a wine from Óscar Mestre is much more than enjoying a glass: it is connecting with those who work the land with respect, sensitivity and meaning. It is discovering that, in the corner where the vineyard embraces the sun, a wine can be born that speaks of place, time and climate in silence... but with great force.
