Project History
Carlos Sánchez's journey did not begin in Rioja, but in areas like Gredos and Méntrida, where he started producing his first wines. There, he developed a special sensitivity towards the vineyard and a way of working based on respect and minimal intervention.
In 2018, he decided to settle in the Riojan Sonsierra, specifically between San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida. This is where he found the ideal place to develop his personal project, focused on the recovery of old vineyards and the interpretation of small plots.
Since then, his work has focused on revealing the essence of each soil, resulting in wines that can be understood as authentic "liquid poems."
Philosophy and Working Method
Carlos Sánchez's project is a declaration of love for the terroir. Viticulture is based on organic and biodynamic principles, with meticulous work in the vineyard that seeks to preserve the identity of each plot.
Each vine is precisely cared for, understanding the vineyard as a living ecosystem. Harvesting is done by hand, and each cluster is carefully selected to maintain the purity of the grape.
In the winery, the philosophy is clear: minimal intervention. Natural fermentations, no corrections, and an approach that prioritizes the transparency of the wine. The goal is for each bottle to be a true reflection of its origin.
The Vineyard and the Territory
Carlos Sánchez works in two key areas of the Riojan Sonsierra: San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida. This is a historic wine territory, where limestone soils, a continental climate, and Atlantic influence create unique conditions for the vine.
The plots, many of them old, yield grapes with great concentration, freshness, and complexity. This natural balance translates into wines that speak directly of the landscape, without artifice.
