Product Sheet – 3rd Year Magnum (1.5 L)

Tomás Postigo 3º Año Magnum 2023 is the large-format version of the emblematic crianza wine from the Tomás Postigo winery, located in Peñafiel (D.O. Ribera del Duero). This blend is made from the winery's own Tinto Fino vineyards and complemented with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec, reflecting a philosophy of artisanal work and varietal elegance.

Fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place in French oak barrels with indigenous yeasts. The wine then ages for 12 months in new barrels, followed by refinement in the bottle with a resting period before its release to the market. The Magnum format enhances its evolution and rounds out its expression.

Tasting Notes

The color is intense and bright cherry red. On the nose, it offers ripe black fruit—plum, blackberry—along with mineral notes like graphite, spices (vanilla, cedar), and hints of licorice, graphite, and fine cocoa. On the palate, its creaminess, sweet and ripe tannins, great balance, and a persistent finish with sensations of toffee and brandied cherries stand out.

Pairing

Perfect with grilled red meats, small game, select cured meats, and hearty stews. It also pairs perfectly with aged cheeses and generous spoon dishes.

Terroir and philosophy

Tomás Postigo, a veteran winemaker, blends tradition and modernity in high-altitude vineyards with a continental climate. With this crianza, he seeks varietal purity and a balanced structure. The Magnum format amplifies its capacity for slow and elegant evolution, ideal for sharing and cellaring.
