Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5º Año 2019 is a red wine produced by Bodegas Vega Sicilia in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, Spain. It comes from their own vineyards with an average age of 35 years, where the Tinto Fino and Merlot vines are grown in diverse soils influenced by the Duero River.

The harvest is done manually, with a careful selection of grape bunches. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation, also in steel. Subsequently, the wine is aged for 5 years between barrel and bottle, using new and used 225-liter French and American oak barrels, and 20,000-liter wooden vats.

Tasting Notes

Cherry red color with ruby rims, bright and lively. On the nose, aromas of fresh, ripe fruit, followed by notes of fine cabinetry that will integrate over time. On the palate, it has a leaner structure than Vega Sicilia Único but with the complexity of the wine-fruit association. The attack is powerful, with a significant presence on the palate, ending with a tannic and present finish. Complex and persistent, demonstrating the greatness of this terroir.
