Cien Reales 2022 · 1st Edition is one of the most limited and unique creations from Bodegas Tierra, in Labastida. A Rioja Alavesa born from a single plot in Barranco del Oso, where two adjacent terraces with very different personalities unite to build a precise, deep wine marked by its origin.
Made mainly with Tempranillo, accompanied by a small percentage of Garnacha, it combines the tension of Atlantic influence with the volume of the more Mediterranean slope. This first edition has an exceptionally small production of 850 bottles of 75 cl and only 25 magnums.

The Vineyard
Cien Reales originates from a plot planted in 1980 in Barranco del Oso, Labastida. The vineyard is divided into two adjacent terraces which, despite their proximity, show clearly distinct characteristics.
One of them receives a marked Atlantic influence and sits on shallow clay-limestone soil, providing tension and concentration. The second shows a more Mediterranean character, with shallow limestone soil, abundant rock, and a high presence of silt, responsible for providing structure and volume.
The poor and particular composition of these soils naturally limits the yield of the vines and concentrates the expression of the plot.
Winemaking
The harvest is done manually, and the grapes arrive at the winery in small 14 kg boxes.
The winemaking process maintains approximately 20% whole grape, followed by spontaneous fermentation and 20 days of maceration. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new 600-liter French oak barrels.
The wine then remains for two winters in the same wood, a prolonged aging that seeks to refine its structure and add complexity without masking the character of the vineyard.
Tasting Notes
Cien Reales is precise, vertical, and profound, with a clean and defined fruit expression accompanied by a distinct mineral background.
On the palate, it combines structure and tension, with firm, perfectly integrated tannins. The two terraces find their balance here: freshness and concentration unite with volume and amplitude, resulting in a serious, elegant, and persistent wine.
Pairing
Its structure and depth make it an excellent accompaniment for roasted lamb, grilled T-bone steak, red meats, game, slow-cooked stews, and aged cheeses.
Cien Reales 2022 · 1st Edition is the interpretation of a plot through its contrasts. Two terraces, two climatic influences, and two expressions of the soil united in a wine of minimal production. With barely 850 bottles of 75 cl produced, it is one of Bodegas Tierra's most exclusive references.
