La Abuela Visi 2024 is one of Bodegas Tierra's most personal wines, a tribute to family memory and the traditional viticulture of Labastida. Made from a vineyard planted in 1920, this white wine brings together historic Rioja Alavesa grape varieties to faithfully express the landscape that stretches at the foot of the Sierra de Toloño.

Its fermentation and long aging on lees in wood provide depth, texture, and an extraordinary capacity for evolution, resulting in a complex, elegant white wine deeply connected to its origin.

The Vineyard

The grapes come exclusively from the Sauro vineyard, planted in 1920, located in the Barranco del Oso, on the slopes of the Sierra de Toloño.

This is a historic vineyard situated on clay soils with a marked calcareous presence, exclusively oriented towards the morning sun, which favors a slow ripening and excellent preservation of freshness.

The harvest is done manually in 14 kg boxes, carefully selecting the best bunches directly in the vineyard.

Winemaking

After selection in the field, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed.

Fermentation takes place in wood, using foudres and barrels, combining new French oak and second-use Central European wood to add complexity without masking the expression of the vineyard.

Subsequently, the wine remains 12 months on its lees, gaining volume, structure, and depth, while maintaining the characteristic freshness of Labastida's calcareous soils.

Tasting Notes

It presents a brilliant yellow color with golden reflections reminiscent of dandelion and old gold.

On the nose, aromas of aromatic plants typical of the Sierra de Toloño appear, delicate floral notes, and an elegant hint of Moscatel that integrates with a fresh and mineral background.

On the palate, it is ample and velvety, with magnificent tension provided by its natural acidity. The aging adds volume and complexity, while the minerality and freshness lead to an extraordinarily long, elegant, and persistent finish.

Pairing

Ideal for fish, seafood, Asian cuisine, pasta, poultry, seafood rice dishes, and soft or semi-cured cheeses.

Recommended serving temperature: 13 ºC.
