In Rioja, Carlos Sánchez creates one of those wines born from personal conviction. After his time in Gredos, he produces small parcel wines in Labastida and San Vicente de la Sonsierra that seek elegance, freshness, and authenticity. Veravier La Piedad 2023 comes from the “Fuente de la Salud” site in Rioja Alavesa, and reflects a refined and mineral interpretation of old vines.

The Vineyard
It comes from a bush-trained vineyard planted in 1950, in the municipality of Labastida. Small plots, worked with an organic and biodynamic approach, with very low yields and rigorous selection both in the field and in the winery.
The blend of Garnacha with traditional Rioja varieties provides complexity and balance, always maintaining the common thread of freshness and minerality.
Tasting Notes
Bright red color with medium intensity, reflecting delicate extraction. The nose offers fresh red fruit, Mediterranean herbs, floral notes, and a very defined mineral background.
On the palate, it is fine and vibrant, with polished tannins and precise acidity that lengthens the finish. The overall impression is elegant, light in sensation but profound in expression, with a persistent and authentic finish.
Food Pairing
Ideal with roasted poultry, traditional Rioja dishes, white meats, mild stews, or seasonal vegetable-based cuisine.
A single-vineyard Rioja that shies away from opulence to embrace subtlety. Old vines, minimal intervention, and very limited production for a wine that speaks softly... but leaves its mark.
