Carmelo Rodero Raza 2022 takes over from the winery's historic Reserva and pays homage to the roots of Pedrosa de Duero. Under the oenological direction of Beatriz Rodero, this high-altitude Tempranillo combines intensity and freshness, strength and elegance, maintaining the classic identity of the house with a more vibrant profile.

The Vineyard

It comes from five sites located in the vicinity of Pedrosa de Duero: Quintana, Boada, Valcabado, Guzmán and Pedrosa. Vineyards planted on trellises and in bush vines at altitudes between 837 and 862 meters, with vines 30–35 years old on mainly clay soils.

The 2022 vintage was marked by extreme heat and drought conditions, which required a staggered and precise manual harvest, resulting in grapes of great concentration and excellent health.

Winemaking

Gravity-fed winemaking using the OVI system, preserving the purity of the fruit and structural elegance. Subsequently, aging for 21 months in new French oak barrels to provide complexity and balance.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, it combines intense aromas of ripe and fresh fruit —blackberries and plums— with delicate spicy nuances that provide depth and subtlety.

On the palate, it shows a silky entry that evolves into an enveloping and balanced texture. Intense and smooth at the same time, with excellent harmony between structure and freshness.

Ideal with grilled meats, large steaks, traditional roasts, and hearty Castilian cuisine.
