Casa Castillo Las Gravas 2023 is one of the great Mediterranean expressions of Jumilla. From a historic plot located on the stony slopes dominating the property, this wine combines the depth of Monastrell with the freshness and fluidity of Garnacha.

The Vineyard

The grapes come from the Las Gravas parcel, located on the mountain slopes overlooking the estate.

The vineyards, planted in 1986, are dry-farmed and bush-trained on extremely stony soils that contribute mineral tension and natural concentration.

Garnacha complements the structure of Monastrell, providing greater freshness and dynamism to the blend.

Winemaking

Each variety ferments separately using traditional fermentation in underground lagares with temperature control.

Subsequently, the wine undergoes a long aging of 22 months in large-capacity foudres, seeking to preserve the purity of the vineyard and the Mediterranean expression of the terroir.

Tasting Notes

Medium-high intensity cherry red color.

On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruit appear alongside mineral notes of stone and chalk, spices like clove, and delicate hints of tobacco leaf.

On the palate, it is flavorful, fresh, and fleshy, with great structure, excellent balance, and a long, intense finish.

Pairing

Ideal with grilled meats, lamb, inland Mediterranean cuisine, mountain rice dishes, and aged cheeses.

An elegant and profoundly mineral Jumilla that reflects the most refined character of Casa Castillo and Monastrell's ability to express freshness, landscape, and Mediterranean complexity.
