Cullerot 2024 is one of the wines that best represents the philosophy of Celler del Roure: to recover native Valencian varieties and to restore to the old clay vats the prominence they held for centuries. Its name, which means "tadpole" in Valencian, began as a small project that ended up becoming one of the winery's most renowned white wines.

Produced in Terres dels Alforins, this wine combines Mediterranean freshness with the depth provided by aging in amphorae. It is a modern interpretation of ancient Valencian wines, where the purity of the fruit and the expression of the landscape prevail over any influence of wood.

The Vineyard

The grapes come from the Les Alcusses area and other plots scattered throughout Terres dels Alforins, located between 550 and 700 meters above sea level, in the province of Valencia.

The vineyards, between 20 and 40 years old, grow on sandy loam, clay loam, and sandy limestone soils, cultivated under organic agriculture. Celler del Roure works with small winegrowers in the region, paying for the cultivated area instead of the production to favor low yields and preserve these historic vineyards of traditional varieties.

The 2024 vintage was marked by a very rainy spring and a warm, dry summer. Abundant water reserves allowed for excellent acidity and balance, resulting in high-quality, perfectly healthy grapes.

Elaboration

Harvesting is done manually in 15 kg boxes.

After partial destemming, fermentation begins with native yeasts and finishes naturally in traditional clay amphorae, recovered by the winery after years of research.

The wine remains six months on its lees in 2,800-liter clay amphorae, an ancestral method that provides texture and complexity without masking the expression of the varieties or the territory.

Tasting Notes

It presents a brilliant pale yellow color with greenish reflections.

On the nose, it offers a very fresh and delicate expression, where aromas of white fruit, citrus, Mediterranean flowers, and aromatic herbs predominate, accompanied by an elegant mineral sensation.

On the palate, it is vibrant, clean, and very balanced. Aging in amphora provides volume and a silky texture without detracting from its freshness. The excellent acidity supports a precise and long whole, with a saline and very Mediterranean finish.

Food Pairing

Ideal for Valencian rice dishes, fish, seafood, octopus, Asian cuisine, grilled vegetables, fresh cheeses, appetizers, and Mediterranean cuisine.

Recommended serving temperature: between 8 and 10 ºC.

Cullerot 2024 is proof that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand. Made with native varieties and aged in old clay amphorae, it conveys the freshest and most authentic essence of Terres dels Alforins, becoming one of the great Mediterranean white wines of the Valencian Community.
