The Vineyard
The grapes come from plots located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, within the mosaic of 19 plots cultivated by the project in Labastida and San Vicente. The calcareous soils and the microclimate of the area provide tension, freshness, and great aromatic precision.
The 2023 vintage was characterized by favorable weather conditions: a spring with moderate rainfall, followed by a warm and dry summer with cool nights that helped preserve acidity and develop complex aromas. These conditions resulted in balanced, high-quality grapes.
Winemaking
After harvesting and selecting the grapes, the wine is aged for 12 months in 500-liter French oak barrels, chosen by the Canadell family. These barrels, from oaks grown in sandy soils, contribute elegance and complexity while respecting the purity of the fruit.
Tasting Notes
The nose reveals refined aromas of ripe red cherry, pomegranate, and delicate violets, accompanied by spicy notes, cedar, and a subtle mineral background reminiscent of the calcareous soils of the Sonsierra.
On the palate, it stands out for its balance and silky texture. Vibrant freshness supports an elegant fruity profile with fine tannins that add depth without dominating. The finish is long, precise, and harmonious.
Pairing
Ideal with roasted meats, small game birds, seasonal dishes with mushrooms, or traditional Riojan cuisine.
A contemporary Rioja that combines elegance, freshness, and complexity, accurately reflecting the character of the San Vicente de la Sonsierra terroir.
