El Puntido 2020 is the most precise and elegant embodiment of the unique vineyard of Viñedos de Páganos, in Rioja Alavesa. A wine that is landscape, time, and stone; a work that pays homage to minerality, to the rigor of the terroir, and to the nobility of Tempranillo in its highest expression.

It originates from a single plot: Viña El Puntido, located at 600 meters of altitude in Laguardia, on clay-limestone soils with deep veins of rock and rolled stones. A vineyard planted in 1975, where the vine faces the austerity of the climate and soil, yielding wines that are pure concentration, freshness, and elegance. The harvest is manual, with meticulous selection grape by grape. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats, followed by 16 months of aging in new French oak barrels, where the wine refines without losing its mineral soul.

Tasting Notes

Very intense cherry-red color, with high intensity and garnet rim. On the nose, it is deep, elegant, and complex, with aromas of ripe black fruit—plum, blackberry, blackcurrant—aromatic herbs, violets, cocoa, licorice, fine spices, and a mineral background that evokes limestone and damp earth. On the palate, it is ample, structured, and silky, with firm and polished tannins, vibrant freshness, and a long, persistent, and harmonious finish, where fruit, aging, and minerality merge in a majestic balance.

Pairing

Perfect for grilled red meats, T-bone steak, suckling lamb, game stews, hearty soups, aged cheeses, and artisanal cured meats. A wine that demands time, pause, and a generous table.
