El Puntido 2021 is the purest and most mineral expression of Rioja Alavesa, a wine that embodies landscape, stone, and wind. It originates from the historic estate Viña El Puntido, where ancient Tempranillo vines sink their roots into limestone and stony soils, creating a profile of elegance, depth, and tension that makes each bottle a reflection of the terroir.

Located in the municipality of Laguardia, at an altitude of 600 meters, this vineyard planted in 1975 faces the sky and embraces the rock, yielding small, concentrated clusters, full of life and energy. The harvest is manual, with meticulous selection. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, followed by 16 months of aging in new French oak barrels, where the wine acquires finesse, complexity, and balance without losing the tension bestowed by its origin.

Tasting Notes

Very intense picota cherry red color, high intensity, with violet hues. The nose is deep, elegant, and mineral, with aromas of ripe black fruit—plum, blackberry, blackcurrant—blue flowers, graphite, cocoa, licorice, and spicy and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is broad, silky, and with great structure, with polished tannins, impeccable freshness, and a long, vibrant, and persistent finish, where fruit and minerality merge into an elegant and powerful whisper.

Pairing

Perfect for grilled red meats, prime rib, suckling lamb, game dishes, stews, aged cheeses, and Iberian cured meats. A wine that demands a spacious table, time, and silence to be contemplated.
