Marimar Estate La Masía Pinot Noir 2019 is one of California's great Pinot Noirs and one of the benchmarks that solidified the prestige of this variety in the United States after the phenomenon of the movie Sideways. Produced by Marimar Torres in the heart of the Russian River Valley, it combines the Torres family's winemaking tradition with one of the world's most renowned terroirs for this variety.
Its name pays homage to the Catalan farmhouse (masía) that inspired the winery's architecture and to a family dedicated to viticulture since the 16th century. The result is an elegant, profound, and extraordinarily long-lived wine.

The Vineyard
The grapes come exclusively from the Don Miguel Vineyard, an organic vineyard located in Green Valley, the coolest sub-zone with the most fog influence in the Russian River Valley, just 15 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean.
Planted with a high density of close to 5,000 vines per hectare, following the European model, the vineyard produces low yields that favor greater concentration and extraordinary aromatic elegance.
The 2019 vintage combines different Pinot Noir clones that provide complexity and balance:
58% Pommard
36% Swan
8% Dijon 667
18% Dijon 115
Production
The harvest was carried out manually between August 23 and September 13, with careful selection of each cluster.
After destemming, fermentation takes place in small stainless steel vats using only indigenous yeasts from the winery itself, thus preserving the vineyard's identity.
Subsequently, the wine remains in high-quality French oak barrels, with 30% new wood, from the prestigious cooperages Remond, Rousseau, and Marchive, made with oak from the French forests of Vosges and Bertranges.
Finally, the wine is bottled without fining or filtration, respecting all its purity and aging potential.
Tasting Notes
It presents an attractive, bright ruby color of medium intensity.
The nose offers great aromatic elegance dominated by cherries, blueberries, and other red fruits, accompanied by delicate notes of orange peel, cinnamon, sweet spices, and a refined, perfectly integrated oak background.
On the palate, it is silky, profound, and perfectly balanced. The acidity provides freshness and precision, while the fine tannins support an intense, long, and harmonious ensemble. The finish is persistent, with hints of ripe fruit, spices, and soft toasted notes. It has excellent aging potential, able to evolve favorably for 10 to 15 years or even longer.
Pairing
Ideal for duck, quail, roasted poultry, lamb, Iberian pork, salmon, mushrooms, Asian cuisine, mushroom risottos, and soft cheeses.
Recommended serving temperature: 14–15 ºC.
