Product Sheet – Matas Altas Tinto 2023

Matas Altas Tinto 2023, from Bodega Cerrón – Stratum Wines, is a red wine from pre-phylloxera and organic vineyards in Fuente-Álamo, Jumilla (Murcia), cultivated at altitudes between 850 and 940 m. It is made with Monastrell —90%— and complementary local varieties, such as Garnacha Tinta, Moravia Agria, and Bobal —10%— .

After manual harvesting, the grapes ferment spontaneously in wooden vats and foudres. It is aged for 11 months in 5,000 L foudres and used 500 L barrels, with minimal use of sulfites and without fining or filtering

Tasting Notes

Intense cherry red color. On the nose, ripe red and black fruits stand out, fine herbal notes of thyme, a soft touch of cocoa and subtle spices . On the palate, it is juicy and lively, with round tannins, fresh minerality, and a vibrant persistence .


Pairing

Ideal with red meats, grilled lamb, stews, Mediterranean barbecue, and aged cheeses.


The altitude and limestone soils give this old-school Monastrell a firm and vibrant heartbeat. With every sip, you can feel the breeze of Jumilla, the echo of centuries-old vines, and the promise of a landscape that flows, firm and authentic, in every drop.
