Ahari takes its name from a Basque mythological figure: a ram-shaped elf who, according to legend, appeared at night to disturb children. With that same restless and expressive energy, Oxer Bastegieta signs this red wine from Rioja Alavesa where old and young vines coexist in a vibrant, deep, and characterful blend.

Vineyard and winemaking

Very old Tempranillo vineyards located at about 600 meters of altitude, complemented with Graciano from slightly younger plots, always with low yields. Clay-limestone soils that provide structure and freshness.

The harvest is done manually. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in 6,000-liter French oak vats, where the wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation. It then ages for 10 months in the same vat, refining without losing energy or liveliness.

Tasting notes

Intense cherry color.
The nose combines black and red fruit with floral notes, sweet spices, and perfectly integrated wood, already showing fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins.
On the palate, it is intense and lively, with hints of black fruit, violets, sweet spices, and a subtle touch of leather. It maintains tension, balance, and depth.

Pairing and serving

Ideal for roasted meats, traditional stews, spicy dishes, and aged cheeses.
Recommended serving temperature: 16 ºC.
Optimal consumption: until approximately 2034 if stored in good conditions.

Ahari 2022 is a red wine with nerve and personality, combining the strength of Tempranillo, the freshness of Graciano, and the subtlety of Viura in a modern interpretation that is very true to the character of Rioja Alavesa.
