Suzanne 2023 by Oxer Wines is an ode to women and the permanence of life. Its name pays homage to Leonard Cohen's song Suzanne and its spirit is reinforced by a quote from Eduardo Galeano on the back label. A wine that speaks of rebirth, continuity and emotion, made from century-old Grenache and conceived with a profound and contemporary sensibility.

Vineyard and Winemaking

It comes from a 3-hectare vineyard planted in 1903 in Cárdenas (Rioja Alta), located at an altitude of 580 meters. Clay-ferrous soils with just over 10% stone, which limit vigor and provide concentration, with very low yields of around 2,000 kg per hectare. The different plots that make up the vineyard contribute to greater complexity in the wine.

Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in used 500-liter French oak barrels, Padilla clay amphorae, and concrete eggs. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages for 12 months in French oak barrels and concrete eggs. It is bottled unfiltered, preserving all its expression.

Tasting Notes

A red wine of great elegance and finesse. On the palate, a silky and velvety texture stands out, balanced by a juicy acidity and soft gripping tannins. Flavors of red cherry, blackberry, and plum appear, accompanied by sweet and spicy notes such as cinnamon and cocoa, along with hints of tobacco and violets. The ensemble leads to a long, concentrated, and complex finish, full of nuances.
