El Nogal 2020 originates from a unique plot guarded by a large walnut tree in Mambrilla de Castrejón. A privileged hillside where the wind, the Duero river, and poor, stony soils impart character and strength to this fine red wine of immense personality. Vineyard and Winemaking

The grapes come exclusively from the El Nogal plot, located at an altitude of 850 meters, on sandy-loam and stony soils of very low fertility. Viticulture is respectful and selective, aimed at preserving the natural balance of the vineyard. The vintage yield was very low, around 3,650–3,700 kg per hectare.

The harvest is done manually in crates, with prior refrigeration of the grapes for 24 hours. After a six-day cold pre-fermentation maceration below 12 ºC, fermentation takes place spontaneously in French oak vats, with phenolic control. Malolactic fermentation is also spontaneous in barrel, with periodic lees stirring via bâtonnage.

Tasting Notes

Visually, it displays an intense cherry red color. The nose is complex and expressive, with aromas of ripe red and black fruit such as cassis and cherry, accompanied by spicy notes of clove and cinnamon, hints of spearmint, and an elegant background of new oak. On the palate, it is fresh, full-bodied, and structured, with an enveloping texture, polished tannins, and a long, deep, and persistent finish.

Pairing and Serving

Ideal for red meats, traditional roasts, game, suckling pig, oxtail, and dishes with complex sauces.
Recommended serving temperature: 16 ºC.

El Nogal 2020 is a superb single-vineyard wine, intense and precise, combining power and finesse with outstanding aging potential.
