El Rapolao 2023 is one of Raúl Pérez's most emblematic and beloved plots in Bierzo. Located on a steep, north-facing slope, this historic vineyard produces a delicate, floral, and deeply mineral wine, made with minimal intervention and a strong Atlantic identity.

The Vineyard

The wine comes exclusively from the El Rapolao area, in Valtuille de Abajo, located at about 550 meters of altitude.

The plot has a north orientation and a steep inclination that prevents mechanized work, favoring artisanal and very respectful viticulture.

Part of the vineyard was planted in 1920, while another part dates from 1980.

The soils are clayey in the older area and more organic in later plantings.

Winemaking

The harvest is done manually.

Fermentation takes place with whole clusters in wooden vats, where the wine macerates for approximately 30 days.

It then undergoes an aging of 12 months in neutral barrels, seeking to preserve the purity of the vineyard and the varietal expression.

Tasting Notes

Bright cherry color.

On the nose, aromas of red fruits and flowers appear along with delicate spicy and mineral notes.

On the palate it is elegant and vibrant, with firm tannins, slight warmth and a marked freshness that provides depth and length.

Ideal with poultry, white meats, mountain cuisine, and Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
