Ultreia Douro 2013 is born from the collaboration between Raúl Pérez and the prestigious Portuguese winemaker Dirk Niepoort in the heart of the Douro. A wine made from old slate vineyards that combines Atlantic depth, freshness, and elegance in a very personal interpretation of the Portuguese landscape.

A unique reference where tradition, minimal intervention, and oenological sensitivity come together to create a red wine full of character and finesse.

The Vineyard

The grapes come from old vineyards located on slate soils in the Tedo river valley and in the Covas valley, two historic enclaves of the Portuguese Douro.

The combination of altitude, climate and soils provides mineral depth, tension and aromatic complexity.

Winemaking

Fermentation takes place in a fudre with indigenous yeasts and a portion of whole clusters, following Raúl Pérez's usual philosophy of minimal intervention in winemaking.

Subsequently, the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels, refining its structure and adding elegance without obscuring the terroir's personality.

Tasting Notes

The nose reveals aromas of golden apple, black pepper, ripe candied cherry, and delicate balsamic notes.

On the palate, it offers a sweet and silky entry, with good structure, perfectly integrated tannins, and a fluid and vibrant finish.

The finish is long, elegant, and full of mineral and spicy nuances.

Pairing

Ideal with red meats, traditional Portuguese cuisine, long-cooked stews, and aged cheeses.

A refined and deeply expressive Douro that unites the sensibility of Raúl Pérez and Dirk Niepoort in an elegant and mineral interpretation of the great Portuguese vineyards.
