Ultreia Valtuille 2022 is one of Raúl Pérez's most exclusive and delicate wines in Bierzo. Made from a single century-old vineyard located in Valtuille de Abajo, this wine represents a refined, floral, and deeply Atlantic interpretation of Mencía from Bierzo.

A very limited production red wine where elegance, freshness, and minerality coexist in absolute harmony.

The Vineyard

The grapes come exclusively from the Las Villegas vineyard, in Valtuille de Abajo, with a south orientation.

This is a century-old vineyard planted in 1908, set on clay-limestone soils with a significant presence of sand, which brings delicacy and finesse to the wine.

The Atlantic-continental climate of the area favors slow and balanced ripening.

Winemaking

Fermentation takes place in foudres with long macerations and extremely gentle extraction, allowing the grape to slowly infuse into the wine.

Subsequently, the wine remains for approximately 5 months in used French oak barrels and 6 months in 1,000-liter foudres.

Bottling is carried out without filtering or fining to preserve the full identity of the vineyard.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, it is perfumed, fresh, and elegant, with notes of violets, red fruits, and delicate mineral hints.

On the palate, it is silky, intense, and very fine, with an elegant texture and a subtle rusticity that reflects the character of the terroir.

Pairing

Ideal with stews, legumes, traditional cuisine, and small game dishes.

A Bierzo of enormous sensibility and depth that expresses the finest and most exciting side of Mencía from old vines through the unique vision of Raúl Pérez.
