Sangarida La Guiana 2022 is the ultimate expression of Godello within the Fariña family's Bierzo project. It originates in the Val de Paxariñas area, in Cacabelos, at the foot of the Montes Aquilianos, whose most emblematic peak, La Guiana (1,846 m), gives this wine its name. For centuries, this peak served as a reference point for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago, symbolizing guidance and direction, values that also inspire this single-vineyard wine.

Made exclusively with Godello and aged for twelve months in barrels, it represents a precise and elegant interpretation of Bierzo, where the vineyard, wood, and time coexist in perfect balance.

The Vineyard

La Guiana comes exclusively from La Tarea, a plot planted in 1999 in the Val de Paxariñas area, within the municipality of Cacabelos.

The vineyard is cultivated in trellises following the à la bourguignonne system with simple Guyot pruning, under an organic and minimal intervention philosophy.

The vines grow on silt-clay soils, with a clay content of between 20 and 25%, a south-west orientation, an approximate slope of 5%, and an altitude close to 600 meters, ideal conditions for achieving balanced ripening and preserving the natural freshness of the Godello.

Winemaking

Harvest is carried out manually into 15 kg boxes, and the grapes undergo strict sorting before being destemmed and gently pressed.

Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in new and used French oak and acacia barrels, of 228 and 500 liters.

Subsequently, the wine remains for 12 months on its fine lees, undergoing periodic batonnage to provide greater volume, complexity, and an extraordinary integration between fruit and aging.

Tasting Notes

It presents an intense, bright yellow color.

On the nose, it shows great intensity and complexity, with aromas of ripe white fruit, citrus, and delicate floral notes that combine with elegant hints of vanilla, sweet spices, and fine toasts from aging.

On the palate, it is broad, unctuous, and vibrant, supported by magnificent acidity that provides tension and balance. The fruit, minerality, and creamy texture evolve towards a very long, elegant, and persistent finish, suggesting remarkable aging potential.

Food Pairing

Ideal for baked fish, seafood stews, lobster, shellfish, white meats, poultry, Asian cuisine, creamy rice dishes, and creamy cheeses.

Recommended serving temperature: between 10 and 12 ºC.
