Sangarida La Yegua 2022 is a limited-production white wine born on the slopes of the Montes Aquilianos, in the shadow of the Silla de la Yegua. Made in equal parts with Godello and Doña Blanca, it represents the union of the two great white varieties of El Bierzo in a wine of great personality, where freshness, complexity, and elegance coexist in perfect balance.

This project continues the philosophy of ATTIS Bodega y Viñedos in El Bierzo, recovering historical vineyards and native varieties through respectful viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking that authentically express the Bierzo landscape.

The Vineyard

The Godello comes from two plots located in Campo and San Lorenzo del Bierzo, between 550 and 650 meters of altitude. La Viña de Jaime provides freshness and tension, while La Viña de Alfredo offers greater structure and concentration. Both are cultivated on trellises under organic criteria on clay-loam soils.

The Doña Blanca comes from four historic vineyards planted between 1901 and 1910: La Calleja, Lombano, Las Tablas, and El Corzo, all in San Lorenzo del Bierzo and originally co-planted with Mencía. These are bush-trained vineyards, with low yields, located on clay-loam soils and cultivated following an organic philosophy.

Winemaking

The harvest is carried out manually in 15 kg boxes with careful grape selection at the winery.

After complete destemming and gentle pneumatic pressing, each variety ferments spontaneously with native yeasts in semi-new French oak and acacia barrels, of 228 and 500 liters. Once fermentation is complete, both varieties are blended, and the wine remains for 12 months of aging on its fine lees, with periodic bâtonnage, providing volume, complexity, and great integration.

Tasting Notes

It presents an attractive bright yellow color.

On the nose, it displays an intense and elegant expression, where ripe white fruit, citrus, and white flowers predominate, accompanied by delicate notes of vanilla, sweet spices, and fine toasts from the aging process.

On the palate, it is ample, dense, and vibrant, with a magnificent acidity that supports the whole. The fruit and minerality integrate with the creamy texture provided by the lees, leading to a long, fresh, and very elegant finish.

Pairing

Perfect for baked fish, seafood, seafood rice dishes, poultry, Asian cuisine, risottos, soft cheeses, and quality appetizers.

Recommended serving temperature: between 10 and 12 ºC.

Sangarida La Yegua 2022 brings together the aromatic delicacy of Godello and the depth of Doña Blanca in a singular white wine that reflects the viticultural heritage of El Bierzo. A limited production wine where tradition, century-old vines, and barrel aging come together to offer an elegant, complex, and deeply rooted interpretation of its origin.
