The Vineyard
Teso La Monja is born from a small selection of privileged vineyards in the D.O. Toro, where Tinta de Toro expresses all the strength and personality that have made it one of the most emblematic varieties in the Spanish wine scene.
The vines, adapted for generations to the poor soils and extreme climate of the area, produce very low yields and grapes of enormous concentration, capable of offering wines with extraordinary aging potential.
For the Eguren family, these vineyards constitute a true natural heritage whose preservation guarantees the continuity of a century-old viticultural tradition.
Winemaking
The harvest and grape selection are carried out with extreme care to preserve only the best clusters.
The winemaking aims to respect the identity of Tinta de Toro through precise elaboration and elegant extraction.
Afterwards, the wine remains 26 months in oak barrels, where it develops an enormous aromatic complexity, refines its tannins, and acquires the depth that characterizes the winery's great elaborations.
The result is a wine designed to evolve slowly in the bottle for many years.
Tasting Notes
It presents an intense very dark red color with a very high layer.
On the nose, it displays great aromatic depth, highlighting fresh red fruits, notes of scrubland, balsamic hints, and an elegant mineral background that adds complexity.
On the palate, it surprises with its extraordinary silky texture. The characteristic power of Toro appears perfectly balanced with precise acidity and noble tannins that support a broad, elegant, and immensely persistent wine. The long finish leaves a refined succession of retronasal aromas that evolve slowly in the glass.
Pairing
Ideal for grilled red meats, large roasts, big game, traditional stews, oxtail, and long-aged cured cheeses.
Recommended serving temperature: between 14 and 18 ºC.
Teso La Monja 2011 is much more than a great Toro wine. It is the expression of a legendary territory, the patient work of a family of winemakers, and an absolute respect for vines capable of transmitting emotion, depth, and authenticity in every glass. A wine destined to thrill today and to continue growing over the years.
