Valduero Una Cepa 2018 is a wine born from the purest and most extreme essence of Ribera del Duero. Each bottle is the whisper of a single, century-old vine, grown at high altitude, on poor and stony soils that demand the best from the vineyard. It is a tribute to patience, time, and the perfect balance between power and elegance.

Sourced from bush vines, over 50 years old, which produce minimal yields—barely one bottle per plant. Cultivation is entirely manual, without irrigation, following sustainable practices that respect the natural cycle of the vine. Harvesting is manual, with selection in the vineyard. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, followed by an aging period of 18 months in barrels of three different woods (French, American, and Central European oak) and a long refining period in the bottle, which provides harmony, depth, and elegance.

Tasting Notes

Very intense, deep cherry red color with garnet rims. The nose is complex, elegant, and profound, with aromas of ripe black fruit—blackberry, blueberry, plum—sweet spices, cocoa, tobacco, fine wood, hints of leather, and a mineral background evoking stone and dry earth. On the palate, it is broad, silky, and structured, with fine tannins, excellent acidity, and a long, persistent, and enveloping finish, where fruit and wood merge in perfect balance.

Pairing

Ideal with grilled red meats, prime rib, suckling lamb, game dishes, traditional stews, cured cheeses, and Iberian cured meats. A wine that calls for a generous table, contemplation, and conversation.
