Valduero Gran Reserva 2015 is the ultimate expression of time and patience. It is only produced in exceptional vintages and from an extreme selection: barely two bunches per plant from vines over 70 years old. A wine conceived to transcend, deep, complex, and of very limited production.

Vineyard and Winemaking

It comes from the El Peñón and El Cascorral estates, in high, cold areas of the Ribera del Duero. Bush vines, dry-farmed, planted at a density of 2,600 plants per hectare on clay-calcareous soils. Fertilization is carried out respectfully, using sheep manure.

Only the two best bunches from each vine are selected. The harvest, manual in 14 kg boxes during the first week of October, ensures that the grapes arrive at the winery intact.

Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, faithfully reflecting the terroir. It then ages for 48 months in oak barrels of different origins and rests for 40 months in the bottle in an underground cellar with constant temperature and humidity.

Tasting Notes

Imposing garnet red color. On the nose, it displays enveloping complexity with notes of smoke, fig bread, toffee, leather, and spices, accompanied by ripe black fruit. On the palate, it is intense, silky, and powerful, expanding with elegance and balance. Very long and deep finish.

Pairing

Perfect with red meats, Castilian roasts, game, and intense aged cheeses. Also ideal as a contemplative wine.
